We started the Spruce Our Space program as part of a Continuous Improvement Project. We felt so strongly about Timco Rubber Products having a clean, safe environment that we added it to our Mission Statement. [more]
Timco Rubber Products is meant to be a profitable company that delivers complete customer satisfaction and offers opportunity to its employees in a clean and safe environment.
The following steps were taken by the SOS Team:
- Define our standards and expectations to be organized, safe, and efficient.
- Develop Check sheets based on these standards and expectations to be used to audit areas.
- Develop Kitchen Colonel Schedule for all employees to make sure the standards and expectations defined for the kitchen are met for the week they are the colonel.
- Develop Audit schedules to be used to conduct random audits twice a month to make sure the standards and expectations are being met.
- Conducted training for all personnel on our SOS Program and how it is now part of our Mission Statement.
- Updated Mission Statement to include "in a clean and safe environment."
- Meet monthly to tackle different areas that need to be organized more efficiently and discuss issues or ideas for improvements such as the Lighting Project.
- The Lighting Project is to replace all the lighting in the warehouse and assembly area with energy efficient lighting.
The results of our SOS Program have been great. The office and warehouse are cleaner and people are taking more pride in their work areas. There is a camaraderie that developed to keep Timco Rubber Products clean and organized. This has been a real positive initiative and we look forward to becoming more efficient as a result.
